January is Cervical Cancer Awareness

About 12,000 new cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed each year in the U.S. The human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main cause and risk factor of cervical cancer. Half of all cervical cancer diagnoses occur in women ages 35 - 55. However, it is the most preventable type of cancer with early detection and routine screening tests.
